FAQ

The trial – What Is It and How to Book?

What exactly happens during a trial day at Pet Squad BXL?

Think of the trial day as a gentle "meet and greet" for your furry family member! We invite your dog to spend time with us so they can explore the new environment, meet our team, and get comfortable with our routines. During this time, we observe how your dog interacts with our space and other dogs, while your pup gets to experience our outdoor areas and indoor spaces. It's like a playdate that helps us understand your dog's unique personality and needs, ensuring their future stays are absolutely perfect.

It's booked as a regular boarding night or daycare, depending on the stay you will book later.

How long does a trial day last?

Our daycare trial is a full day experience lasting 8-10 hours, giving your dog plenty of time to settle in, play, and experience our complete daily routine. For boarding trials, your pup will stay with us for a minimum of 24 hours, just like a regular boarding experience. This approach allows nervous pups to relax while giving confident dogs plenty of time to explore and play. We'll discuss the exact timing when you book, as we can adjust based on your dog's temperament and your schedule.

What should I bring when I leave my dog?

Feel free to leave your pup with anything you feel will make his stay with us more comfortable! Bringing his favourite toy, blanket, and snacks is highly encouraged and we love making our guests’ space feel like a second home! (No need to bring a bed or food bowls) We also request that you bring your dog’s own food for him to eat while they are here, as well as any medications or supplements he needs to take while in our care. Dogs' passports will remain with us during the duration of the stay. If your dog is on a specific diet we encourage you to bring his food already portioned.

Will you contact me during the trial day?

Absolutely! We treat you like family, which means keeping you in the loop. We'll send you updates and maybe even a few photos of your pup having fun. If anything comes up or if your dog seems ready to go home early, we'll call you right away. Most dog parents love getting those little check-ins – it really puts minds at ease.

What if my dog doesn't do well during the trial day?

Every dog is unique, and we're experienced in helping nervous or excited pups feel at home. If your dog seems stressed, we have quiet spaces where they can decompress. Our team specializes in gentle, patient care and personalized attention! If we feel your dog needs more time to adjust, we might suggest a shorter visit or a different approach. We're always honest about what's best for your furry family member.

Is there a fee for the trial day?

Yes, our trial day is priced the same as our regular services – so a boarding trial night costs the same as a regular boarding night, and a daycare trial is priced at our standard daycare rate. We believe this approach is fair because your dog receives the exact same level of personalized care, attention, and facilities during their trial as they would during any regular stay. Think of it as getting the full Pet Squad BXL experience right from the start! This way, there are no surprises about pricing, and your pup gets to experience everything we offer – from our home-like environment to our large outdoor spaces – just as they would during future visits.

Can you administer medications?

We are more than happy to administer any oral or topical medications or supplements during his stay, free of charge (we do not administer injectable medications). For your pet’s safety, we require the medication to be in its original container with a current prescription.

What are your requirements for dog grooming, boarding, Daycare & Squad Fun Day?

In order to maintain the safety of our facility, we require all pups to be:

  • Friendly with our staff and other dogs

  • Free of ticks and fleas or any other parasite

  • In overall good health

  • At least 16 weeks old

  • Written proof of current on distemper, hepatitis, parvovirus, leptospirosis and kennel cough vaccines

  • Written proof of dewormer treatment at least one week before the check in date and no older than 6 months.

  • Has satisfactorily approved our Trial Day * (not needed for grooming service)

Do I need to make a reservation?

If you are interested in any of our services, we do require you to make a reservation. For boarding, it would be best to make a reservation as soon as possible (starting with our Trial Day)  to ensure your pup has a spot with us. For daycare, you request a reservation at any time, but to ensure a spot, we recommend that you do so a few days in advance. The best way to ensure that your pup will have a spot is to purchase a daycare package. It also required all forms, terms & conditions, and contracts to be agreed upon and signed before the starting of any service.

When can I drop off and pick up my dog?

For boarding and daycare from Monday to Saturday Drop off /Pick up between 08:30-12:00h and 16:00-19:00h (our doors close at 19:00h). On Sunday  10:00-11:00 and 17:00 -18:00.
For Squad Fun Day hours will be announced in advance depending on the program.

Will I get a refund if I need to cancel my reservation?

For Dog Boarding, we require a 7 days cancellation policy, meaning if you do not cancel your reservation 7 days before the starting date 50% of the total amount of the booking will be retained by Anny Fischer and Pet Squad BXL as compensation. For the rest of the services (Pet daycare and grooming) we require a 72-hour cancellation policy, or 50% of the total amount of the booking will be retained by  Anny Fischer and Pet Squad BXL as compensation.
